After his retirement from the NYPD, Rabbi Steve, then retired "Detective Steve" , embarked on a spiritual
journey that took him from New York to Florida, where he eventually met a young Rabbi Jan Bresky, of blessed memory.
Rabbi Bresky took Steve "under his wing" and after much study, prayer and self examination, encouraged
Steve to be the Chazzan ( Cantor )of the then fledgeling CONGREGATION BNAI EMMUNAH. (Children of Faith)
It was Rabbi Bresky who introduced Steve to the beauty and true universal message that is inherent in Judaism.
It was also Rabbi Bresky who, shortly before he passed from this life, introduced Steve to Rabbi Joseph Gelberman, a
modern Chasidic and Kabballistic Master. With Rabbi Gelberman as his guide Steve began to explore the
Kabballistic or Mystical side of Judaism. Steve applied to and was accepted as a student at the RABBINICAL SEMINARY
INTERNATIONAL located in New York City. Under the leadership of Rabbi Gelberman and Rabbi Roger Ross along with
Rabbi Lewis Bogage and Rabbi Loring Frank, of the ALL PEOPLES SYNAGOGUE in Miami Beach Florida, Rabbi Steve developed not
only his appreciation of Jewish Law and practice but also his understanding of the eternal relationship that exists
between G-d, the Jewish People and the whole of creation. This fascinating journey finally brought Steve
to Rabbi Shalom Adler, a young and charismatic CHABAD Rabbi, with whom , along with his wife Channie and their beautiful children,
Steve and his wife Ann have had a wonderful 25 year relationship. Rabbi Steve, as many of his friends like to call him,
has had, in his words, " The best teachers and mentors of the modern age and through Rabbi
Adler, shliach of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson of blessed memory, I am blessed
by the influence of this great Jewish leader also."
